  • These foxtrotters are great horses ! What is your horse's breeding ?

  • I have a lovely mare from this magnificent stallion, and she closely resembles him in body and color; she is a double dilute palomino, and absolutely gorgeous and a joy to ride. We have so much fun riding in the forests around my home. I am so proud of her and that her sire is Prince Moonbeam!

  • Hi, I am proud of all Moon's offspring, they seem to inherit his great temperament, keeps us on our toes at times ! Lots of water being turned on, gates opened......very intelligent horses who enjoy human interaction.

  • Your mare, being a palomino, would be called a *single dilute* meaning she inherited one dilution gene from Moon. A *double dilute* would be a horse like Moon himself, he inherited one dilution gene from his palomino sire and one dilution gene from his palomino dam. That is what makes him *double diluted* and creamy in color.

  • @LazyKBar

Yes, that is correct, she is single dilute, but so very light colored. Her dam is Miss Independence, and I named her Aksanamoon, but just Moon for short, like her sire. Wonderful temperament and so level headed, never spooky, brave little mare, she enjoys playing in the forest like I do.

  • Miss Indy ! I remember her well ! You had me trying to figure out what Moon Daughter this would be. I am so glad you wrote, I would LOVE to see pictures of your *Moon* all grown up ! Would you like to join a group of fellow "lil Beamer owners who chat on Yahoo ? We all compare stories about what we are doing with these great babies. Some are doing CTR, some trail riding, etc.

Glad to hear from you !

  • i love my fox trotter though not from this shire he is a champaign with flaxen main and tail =)

  • He's so cuteeee!!! :D

  • What is the difference between a running walk and a foxtrot. I've never studied gaited horses much but i've become fascinated with some of the videos, just confused about some of the different gaits on different breeds.

  • Congratulations on your purchase of a Fox Trotter ! All foxtrotters should gait, not all gait alike, for instance some prefer a fox trot while others may prefer a running walk, but they are bred specifically to gait. The rider's influence, saddle fit, the horse's physical condition and many other factors will also make a difference on how any one particular horse will gait. This is a very versatile breed, you will have fun !
