Water Purification Chemicals & Filters To Consider

You will only live 3-4 days without water. Death from dehydration is psychologically and physically a very painfull way to go. You must keep hydrated, and ensure the water you consume is good to drink. Bacteria and parasites will make you very ill. That could be life threatening in serious survival situations.Water is one of your top priorites when preparing ANY kit. How does a filter get rid of bacteria? Afraid not dude, you been reading the back of too many packages that come with the products. All you need is a cup full of sand, boil, and a drop of bleach. (I just pissed off a bunch of people that like to waste money)

Katadyne water filter does it all trusted and tested. In the nastiest water ever been on just about ever expedition but where they go I'd filter then boil but did see any get sick so if I was to bet my life on it katadyne pocket then boil if you have doughts

buddy of mine turned me onto FirstNeed after we went backpacking and I witnessed how nice this set up is first hand, especially if you need water for multiple people. there are a lot of water filtering tecniques that can be used when backpacking...there are several on the market that will remove bacteria and protozoa and can ONLY remove viruses with the use of chemical, viruses are much smaller than single cell organisms. Ceramic filters dont filter smaller than 0.3 microns and viruses can be 0.2 and smaller. The ONLY water filter on the market that is certified by the EPA to remove viruese without the use of chemicals is the FirstNeed XL.
