In November 1986, a snowstorm rips through Connecticut, leaving wife and mother Helle Crafts missing. Her husband, airline pilot Richard Crafts, evades suspicion for weeks by claiming that Helle had run off with another man. Groundbreaking forensic work and an eyewitness to a gruesome scene involving an industrial-sized woodchipper, result in a conviction that shocks a community.

  • That juror is a dumb cunt. He should be fined.

  • DAMN, 2 bad they couldnt look into jurors backgrounds, im sure they wouldve found out why that guy was voting acquittal. he probably wanted 2 do the same thing or just going thru problems w/ a current or ex wife & felt he understood the accused. thank goodness another jury found him guilty

  • I live in a neighboring town and remember when this happened - the house became a place that curiosity-seekers would drive by because no one could believe it actually happened in Newtown, Connecticut!

  • This is a good video, but not as accurate as the "Medical Detectives" version. I can only find the Medical Detectives show on Youtube dubbed in German. This particular version does not give adequate credit to the CSP Major Crime Squad. Had the CSP not led and pushed this investigation from the beginning, its unlikely that Crafts would have been prosecuted. Read Mr. Hertzog's book. Dr. Lee is a marvelous person and I am glad to see him interviewed.

  • I just got done reading the case in my forensics class from the Dr. Henry Lee books.. one fucked up man...

  • @pomegranateish What a hard headed asshole. 11 people are wrong and he is right? Jesus lover!

  • I saw the helle crafts case on Forensic Files which Helle Craft show was this case featured on?Thanks for uploading.

  • LOL, im glad they have sub-titles for Mr. hertzog. i can barely make out what the poor mans saying. even Henry Lees comments are clearer. i like Mr. Lee, i think hes a great forensic scientist, despite mistakes made n his career. they say 2 err is human, a guarantee. LOL, its almost like if u dont make 1, some1 will look at u & think, "HMM, R THEY ALIEN?" LOL, just playing about that 1 folks, but we're not perfect & entitled 2 make errs. tho some just dont learn from them.

  • i saw this case on S.O.C, the science of crime & the full story wasnt told there, just as the title says, the forensic portions as it pertained to the story. i was just about 2 delete it & say, naw, i already saw & know what happened, but this 1 gives more detail. so im glad i took the chance & watched. THANX 4 THE UPLOAD CEREALJUSTICEAVENGER!!

  • Never saw this one, just knew of the crime. thank you for uploading
