Dignity Designs was started to help support the mother's of our disabled children at Heshima. The mother's come to the center each week to make beautiful, African jewelry. We use various beads from Africa such as trade beads that are made from glass and are hand painted. They come from Ghana and at one time were used for trading purposes. The prettier the bead the more it is worth.

Cow bone beads are made from chiseled cow bone from the slums of Nairobi. The beads come in various shapes and sizes and are either white or brown. Fish Bone beads come from the rivers of Africa and are actually shaped like small vertebrae.

Most of our jewelry can come in various colors depending on the availability of the beads. We can make matching earrings and bracelets to go with any necklace. We have just opened a show room that is attached to our center in the Ngando slum. Please support us at:
