"Let's go to the hop. OH BABY!".
Just got this off ebay and I love it to bits.
Pat Boone's little brother's version released a month before Danny & The Juniors. But they got the sales

  • Fascinating - but how come this came out before the Danny & the Juniors version when they wrote it?

  • Good point. A dedicated website I found told this tale. Probably Nick's label got the presses working first

  • Nick Boone is my granddad. Thanks for posting!

  • @lolhoney1 The original title and lyrics were "Do The Bop"...I think it might have been Dick Clark who suggested they rewrite the song, as dances traditionally have short lives...demo versions exist, but this might well have been released just before the Danny & The Juniors release...musically I have to admit it's as lame IMO as Pat Boone's Little Richard covers...cool post nonetheless

  • Interesting that this was out before the Danny...version. The Embassy records version by Paul Rich I think sounds closer to this version than Danny...

  • that turntable 's a bit like my old collaro-conquest rolltop i had in '62
