Dune was the first commercial game based on Frank Herbert's science fiction novel Dune. It has been developed by Cryo Interactive and published by Virgin Games in 1992. You can see a self-running demo version here.

  • Dune might be the best game ever (ok, not as good as Xcom, but one hell of a game anyway). Any way, some people play Betrayal at Krondor over and over again, some play Dungeon Master, but I play Dune over at least once a year (it's not that long actually, last time I magically lost Chani, so couldn't finish it :-)

BTW, was this video from early demo (at least that's how I understood the description) since there's no Lachlan?

  • I dunno, the demo was dated to October 1993, so it's possibly a very late demo. At least, Paul Atreides doesn't look like MacLachlan anymore (or yet).

  • This game was simply amazing!, i remember being completely captivated by the art and story and subtle details (like the ding noise in the music when a drip hits the water). I somehow managed to finish it all first go... i was excited to get dune 2 later but was very dissapointed the adventure story component had been removed and hardly played it.

  • Um, why is Paul's face different? Gimme my Kyles'face back!

  • Dune I was my fav game. Btw, if this is the PC game, can you tell me where I can download it as an abandonware(that HAS sound).

  • A great game overshadowed by its predecessor, Dune II: Battle for Arrakis.

  • @Retardretroguy I agree with you here. The only reason this game is not as well remembered as Dune II: Battle for Arrakis is because Dune II ushered in the new era/genre of Real Time Strategy games.

In fact: I think I will play Dune right now!

  • Chani - my first love!

  • Interesting to see the new faces.

Also the music can't hold a candle to the amiga version. :(

Jesus. What happened to Sting's face? Especially his super-stiff jaw.

  • People are always so critical of the film, but you know what? You're lucky to even have the film. :) In some ways it's a work of art, in other ways a box-office failure, in some ways true to the book, in others it seems to ignore the book, that makes it unique, and it has a cult following regardless.

  • just so you know, there were two versions. One for pc and one Amiga version (if I remember correctly). This explains the different graphics

  • Член-мутант 0:50 ololo

  • Probably the best Adlib music ever. However, being one of the (very) few games that had native support for the ill-fated Adlib 2000 card I'd really like to hear that.
