  • This was a great lineup, the first without the two original members, was it another drummer on the Moonlight album or after? also does anyone know which lineup was on 'Soul Doctor' & the 2 other new tracks on the 'Best & Beyond'? after those 3 cool songs 'MR MOONLIGHT' was abit of a downer, don't get me wrong it has 3 or 4 classic's on it, but once again Mick put way too many ballads on it, plus too much acoustic not enough rock guitar!

  • >This was a great lineup, the first without the two original members...

Mick & Lou are present, but w/o original drummer Dennis Elliott & 2nd bass-man Rick Wills. Ed Gagliardi played bass on FOREIGNER & DV. Ian McDonald & Al Greenwood were not replaced after HG. Johnny Edwards was gone after UNUSUAL HEAT.

THE VERY BEST & BEYOND featured Mark Schulman (drums), Schuyler Deale (bass), John Purdell (keyboards, b. vocals & TVB&B co-producer) & Rick [not Robin] Seratte on keyboards.

  • The video for "With Heaven On Our Side" featured Mark & bassist Bruce Turgon, the latter being LG's long-time friend & collaborator on Lou's solo records & the SHADOW KING album. MR. MOONLIGHT named Mark in the Additional Musicians credits. The lineup was Mick, Lou, Bruce & ex-B. Joel keyboardist Jeff Jacobs. Another Additional Musician was Scott Gilman, who helped contribute to "Big Dog" & played sax, plus recorder on "Real World." Tom Gimbel later replaced Gilman on sax & guitar on tour.

  • i remember these days---they were the best!

  • Back in college, I scoured BILLBOARD & R.Stone for any news about Foreigner (& Heart). I saw an ad for THE VERY BEST & BEYOND in RS, and was one giddy 'ringo. I'm not 100% sure, but I may have heard "Soul Doctor" on the radio. I definitely recall seeing their "With Heaven On Our Side" on VH1's Top 21 Video Countdown. Thank God I saw Friday's show, so I could tape the clip on the Sat. replay. Later on, a friend sent me the Much Music show seen here.

  • NOTE: "With Heaven On Our Side" was the week's winner of the Countdown's

"You Pick It, We Play It" segment. Foreigner beat out R&B trio After 7 & Canadian songbird Celine Dion.

In related '90's trivia, M. Jones & L. Gramm appeared in the Jan '93 issue of GUITAR SCHOOL to talk about "Soul Doctor," "Cold As Ice," "Head Games," etc. That December, without any warning, I found CLASSIC HITS LIVE in K-Mart. Sweet! It was another 2 years until MR. MOONLIGHT, but it was worth it.
