To download an mp3 file of the accompaniment, go to www.steveparkhornmusic.net. This beautiful piece by Camille Saint-Saens is great for a Sunday meeting or recital. Subscribe! I will be adding more solos on a regular basis. I teach horn at a University and my goal is to create a video library of some of the best horn solos for my students and others. Also let me know if there is something you would like me to record. If you would like an mp3 file of the accompaniment, send me your email address and I will send you the file.

  • I notice your embouchure is very high, which is "correct" according to my teacher. Mine is extremely low, the rim of the mouthpiece resting on the fleshy part of my upper lip even. I've been playing like that for 6 years now and my teacher says that I MUST change it but I can barely produce a sound at all with the higher one, and when I do, that sound is dreadful. My sound quality has always been what impressed judges who listened to me. Should I really change becuase a Ph.D. says i must?

  • @CDrewHorn If what you are doing works in all registers, there is no need to change. Dennis Brain and Radek Baborak, two of the best to ever play the horn, play (or played) lower on their upper lip than most. If it's not broken, don't try to fix it!!!

  • Which camera do you use to record? Mine always gives off static.

You are excellent. This is a perfect reference for my audition piece.

I hope you are doing well

  • @tophrocks234 I use a Cannon HG20 camera, but the reason my audio sounds so good is that I use an external mic (MXL 990) that I run through a mixer and then into the camera. I don't use the camera's microphone.

  • Wow! Very nice. I can't wait for Morceaux! Are you planning on doing the Gliere Concerto? That's one of my favorites.

  • I love the Gliere as well, but it is complicated to coordinate with pre-recorded midi accompaniment. I might try the second movement.

  • Wow very good. Doing this for my grade 5 horn. Any advice

  • @nualart19 From the C-Major to Cis-Major, A minor to Ais-Minor scales. Just do it at ur own will, it's only important to keep ur mouth in a good shape so u could last longer in practicing ...

  • I love this piece. I've been playing for about 4 years. Though I don't really practice as much as I should. Now that I'm in college I want to practice more and be better. Do you have any suggestions on exercies I should do when I practice? It would be really helpul.

  • I played this song in 7th grade! I loved it so much! :) I kind of want to play it again to see what it sounds like now that I'm older
