At the National Italian American Heritage Foundation Gala, President Obama said, "We've always been and we will always be a nation of immigrants from all over the world. And out of many, somehow we're able to forge ourselves into one people; and this is the place where the highest hopes can be reached, and the deepest and most sincere dreams can be made real."

F*** obama. And can ppl please keep world war ii out of the comments? Italy didnt switch sides...they were losing during the whole war, but at one point a lot of italians got fed up and rebelled.

@lazari2105 There is a huge difference between "switching sides" and "being conquered", Mussolini stood with Germany until the day he died.
That's like saying Germany switched sides after Berlin's fall, it makes no sense at all.

@Humanrightsforall1 And then switched sides when they started losing!!!

Just a couple of considerations: we don't use hands while speaking, no more than any other person of this world. Also, we are surely greatful for what Americans did during the second world war, but we have not a good opinion of the present America. As Europeans - and the European feeling isn't strong enough yet -, we have a percetion of the USA as a false liberal country. Just a well-known example: here sounds absurd that a modern country still put into pratice the capital punishment.
