If you call a number on the Codec and get a Game Over, the number still shows up on the Codec screen. If you exit the file and then re-enter, the same Codec number appears on the screen. This is interesting and I don't know if it's a glitch or not. I haven't tested it to see if it carries to other files, but I kinda doubt it. This is played in NTSC Subsistence, and again, I don't know if it works in other versions.

This can be used and speedruns to call Para-Medic (140.96 for saving) beforehand. This saves 1 second for each save. If there's a cutscene involving the Codec of someone other than Para-Medic, then that number appears in the screen no matter what, making this method useless in certain scenarios. In other cases, like if you save at The Fear, you can use this exploit. It's funny how you can speedrun the game in this way. It's like Anonymityhope's method with the two Memory Cards. The first time I will use it will be in Part 4 of my speedrun.

  • time paradox!

  • Lol I didn't noticed the video before

  • Nice find. MGS4 has the same exploit, only it takes place in the start menu. BTW, great runs.

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy Im playing Snake Eater...I realised that for the running shot, so I gave up, plus aiming manually is more fun for me, since i am just doing it for my own entertainment...but best of luck with your run anyway, and thanks for the tips, your times are very tight with Anonymityhope, so it will be a great finish i am sure..

Oh. Well, good luck! Do you use Snake Eater or Subsistence? Also, the running shot method is quite tricky. You get a little bit of automatic aim by holding the Square button, but only from a certain distance away. It takes the right positions and a lot of practice.

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy I was talking about the memory card switch thing, the PS3 obviously uses internal memory so that doesnt work...I managed to do the 1st save in 6:31, and I can beat that by at least 5 seconds i think...I cant go faster because i cant seem to use the running shot method, even when i use the auto aim button i still seem to miss, especially at Rassvet...If i can get to 6:25 for the 1st save i will be happy, based on the methods im using :)

Also, the effect only ends if you reset the game. I bet it would work on your PS3, but I can't prove that, as my PS3 only plays PS3 games.

  • @dansg08

Anonymityhope is looking into it, I think. I myself have no idea.

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy Ah i see, im playing on PS3, so im not sure that will work for me lol...but a question, roughly how much time is lost when saving, and at what point does the game clock actually stop, does it stop when you reach the save screen or when it begins to save, ive always wanted to know how much is lost..
