David Dewhurst said, beginning at 46:45 -- "... And I agree that Israel is our best friend, our only ally in the area, and we always have to have Israel's back. And so if the Syrians started firing scud missiles and attacking Israel then we would have an obligation to defend it."

Where in the U.S. Constitution do you find this "obligation" to "unapologetically" "have Israel's back"?

Then he thought of an exception: "if the violence in Syria began to seriously imperil the interests of our friend, the nation of Israel. I think we should stand unapologetically with the nation of Israel to the extent that the one jeopardizes the other it then becomes a U.S. national security interest to intervene to protect our interest and the interest of the nation of Israel."
