Traditional Korculan chivalric sword dance. Filmed on Saint Theodore's day on 29th July 2003 on Summer Stage in Korcula, Dalmatia, Croatia. Performed by RKUD Moreska, Korcula. White king named Osman - Toni Lozica; Black king named Moro - Dragan Maric; Black emperor, father of Moro named Otmanovic - Niksa Separovic; White princess named Bula - Ana Trojan. The best ever filmed performance of Moreska.

  • Possibly a very very far ancestral link......Moreska cannot be compared with it in any way except for that far ancestry, and the I suppose only in name...... Morris could have derived from Moorish the same way as Moreska is.... I think all similarity stops there........

  • I can see some similarities in the stick clashing moves. (There's some evidence that early English morris dances were circular sets rather than the longways sets we see today)

  • This dance may share an ancestral link with Cotswold morris.
