but most likely released because they don't want to shoot down the sales of the current iPhone , I don't know about Europe but in the US they'll have it here.
not going to get 802.11n speeds on your computer . Same with the iPhone, you can't jump up to 3G because your carrier has it.
Now, you mentioned using the iPhone as a modem. I'm not sure what the term is that for in France but in the US, they call it "tethering". Ok, Tethering is basically as you say, using a phone as a modem. The iPhone is NOT able to be used as a tethering device.
There's word that a Second Generation iPhone is either going to be announced or released on June 9th
You can't access 3G on the current iPhone because it does not possess the chip that will detect and take advantage of the 3G connection. Also, your Carrier , who ever it is in France HAS to have 3G antennas. I know Europe is a head of the US in that category. Now, to make it simplier( if you know about computers) Imagine the iPhone being a you just brought a computer equipped with 802.11n and you already have a Router( your carrier) with 802.11n( n is faster than g), you're computer isn't going
1) " Is it possible to go to use the iPhone as a modem to access 3G"
This is like a 2 part question so I'm going to give 2 answers.
3G is basically the data and voice connection between the carrier the phone it self. If the phone does not carry a chip to detect and take advantage of the 3G signals, the phone will NOT be 3G enabled. Think of a Wireless Router. If you have 802.11G on your computer( this would be your iPhone) but your Router is 802.11N( this would be the carrier) , you're
