  • was the application of fibrin sealant to reduce the risk of anastomotic leak?

  • Yes, it seals the staple line so that there is less chance of micro-leaks, which could potentially turn into larger and significant leaks. It also helps ward off ozzing of blood from the staple line.

  • You must be good at guitar hero.

  • My son is, that's for sure!

  • WOW! You are a well skilled surgeon. God has trully blessed your mind, hands and heart. I have a question about the Fobi Pouch. Is the Fobi pouch is affective as the RNY? Why or Why not?

  • Thanks for your compliments! I do in fact feel blessed to be able to help people who are in this situation. The Fobi pouch is just another way to do the gastric bypass, but it involves the use of a ring around the pouch. I don't like the idea of a ring - it is very unforgiving, and many surgeons feel it leads to more vomiting issues. It is also a foreign body, which I like to avoid, since there is always the chance or erosion of foreign material into the pouch.

  • @drdennissmith this is AMAZING ...my mom had the same "sucessful " surgery just over a year ago in Toronto ,Dr Suhi .......was very worried ,as she was 66 at the time ,but she followed all the rules and the surgery was most excellent so all in all ...was ALL GOOD .........but i am too squeemish to watch the whole video !! but amazing and THANK u

  • making my stomach hurt

  • ok, so what happens to the stomach ??? you created the pouche, did the stomach got removed ??

  • You are a well skilled surgeon.amazing

  • @biny8 sorry to hear about this. i just had gastric bypass and am in total awe of the nurses who helped me recover. i appreciate what they and you do for folks getting this surgery.

  • wonderful surgery indeed, what are the suture you are using ? type and size

  • Does being a sergion require to know math? If so what kind.

  • fasinating but one question is the claws burning the flesh and causing all the little specs in the air or is it just ripping through the flesh and making all that debree?

  • Do they remove the gall bladder? I heard that rapid weight loss causes gallstones and surgeons remove it to prevent one more potential problem occurring as a result of the bypass.

  • Thats interesting, hand sewing the Gastrojejunostomy. I work with a surgeon who puts vicryl to each corner of the jejunum and sutures it to the stomach then takes a white or blue load on the ethicon stapler and fires it then uses 3-0 PDS to close the opening and then uses the SurgAssist. This is a very interesting video Doctor!
