Sorry but this makes me cry. This scene always stirs up memories for me and I burst into tears. I just wish Mother 3 was a TRUE follow-up. I wanted to see more Ness but oh well... guess he's been long dead, right?

I have played and beaten EarthBound at least  4 times, and when you play each ot those games and waste a significant amount doing so (as I have done) you start to notice the subtle differences and similarities between the two.

It's my belie that Ninten from Mother 1 is Ness's father since he has psychic powers as does Ness.

One thing I never noticed for some reason is that all of the ephemeral images/smells Ness catches at sanctuary locations are then shown in that scene right before he enters Magicant, the realm of his mind.

I think this scene a way of illustrating all of the trippy stuff Talah Rama and the talking rock both say--that his destiny will overlap with the destiny of the universe.
