eddie d, the Dutch master of sampled found footage, has a fascination for the musical capacities of re-used and appropriated television and film material. His 'Masterplan', is a work that specifically focuses on overlapping layers of sounds and rhythm, on musical composition in image and sound. In a 2x2 grid, various short scenes from a 1980s Bollywood film are juxtaposed, sampled and looped. The original movie was awkwardly dubbed into English -- an interesting addition of a 'fake' layer, rather than the 'real' sounds that eddie d usually employs. The artist selected several interesting and unconventional scenes and sounds -- a ringing telephone in an office, a crowd of festively dressed people who are clapping their hands, three macho men snapping their fingers, and a choice of catchy quotes ('How do you like my plan!?') -- as source material for a rhythmic composition in image and sound. The combined four screens reflect the audio track's four-four timing.
