By the time it takes to play this video - the WEP encryption is cracked!

The duration of the video was as long as it took to crack the code.. so a parked car or van, even a neigbour could quite easy break into your equipment, and if you have any shared files on your network... they are shared! :o)

You can get quite far with WiFi radio waves, and some people would be quite amazed in how far they really do go.. I will put a few more videos on my channel soon so that you can get some idea that you don't have to be outside someone's house to crack their WEP keys!

I have to say that WEP is now almost totally useless if the end user has this free software on them, and armed with the right hardware.

Protect yourself a little more by using WPA with random letters and numbers, if you use a word that can be found in a dictionary..... you can be cracked.. Please DONT use passWORDS.. ever! use a Pa55PhRAe3 with mixed bits..
Then jot down the phrase and stick it under the router/access point for your reference.

Most older Access Points/Routers that came from your service provider had WEP code on the unit already configured for you, or were never configured, some people want to leave their access point open anyway.

Anyone could download this type of software, and could break the code (within minutes) with just a little know how..

If you would like to use better encryption, then enable your router to the highest security settings possible - Or change the router for a more modern type if the router does not have the ability to secure it in WPA.

Modern access points are available from Aughton wifi Installers at competitive prices.

Or if you need assistance with setting up your wifi because your not sure on how to do it, please email Aughton WiFi Installers to book an appointment, we can call to your home or business to set this up for you.

  • No-one uses WEP anymore especially not 64 bit and if they do they deserve to get hacked!!!

  • Quite a few users use WEP over here in the UK. With time they will replace their AP's with something more up to date I am sure.

Internet Service Providers supply most APs to clients now, and I guess as they re-new their contracts the equipment will be changed for something more secure.

And I have to point out that I dont agree that anyone deserves to be hacked at all. Remember, not everyone is computer literate.

  • i use AES wpa2 256 bit security with mac address filtering how secure is that?

  • In my opinion, very secure, for now ....

  • Was that a ddos?

  • @AughtonWiFi Its only has secure as your password. If you are on your wireless I can easily get a mac address that your router won't block.

  • is that aircrack-ng im seeing? lol :-D

  • but i want to change it to WEP so i can do ds WI-FI =(

  • more people to know they will change to wpa IDIOT!!!

  • Yeah saying people deserve it I suppose is a bit harsh coz most ISPs don't even mention to customers about the right sort of encryption to use on their supplied wifi APs. Hopefully manufacturers of wifi gear will start using WPA2 with high encryption as a default instead of WEP 128 bit. Maybe they need a show on TV teaching people better security but then Computer Technician's might be out of a job :(

  • I wouldn't bother with mac address filtering as it is pretty easy to spoof a mac address from what I've read on wifi security sites but 256bit WPA2 is secure enough on it's own!
