Finance Critic Norm Miller asks the Premier why 367 senior bureaucrats in the Ontario Public Service are exempted from the wage freeze and salary cap that are said to be necessary to balance the books. The PC Caucus uncovered 12 arbitrators ignoring his public sector wage-freeze plan in addition to the 6 cases reported by the media. As Tom Closson of the OHA said, "the plan failed. What we need is a new plan."
Miller also reveals that the Liberals are balancing its books on the backs of non-unionized workers and long term care. By back tracking on actual wage restraint, care facilities across Ontario are left scrumbling to fund the imposed wage increase! Will these lead to raising residence frees for seniors or reducing staff to care for them? asks MPP Miller.
