You can simply copy and rewrite another RFID device with the same code and it's hacked. They sell RFID readers on the internet. Car wireless entry remotes use a form of RFID. It's a random set of code though but is still vulnerable.

"hahaha" people at least let him talk now in days people think its all a joke until its to late and a loved one gets sent to a fema camp or gets shot by a cop.

a mysterious un-named and disguised team should do this and post it anyway! Corporate lawyers are lower than sewer pipes! nothing but hired thugs for bankster scum !

@eggiex1 Indeed, hence Mythbusters was prohibited to air that episode. Because the vulnerability is not a myth or they won't even need to strong-arm them like that.

videos going down when acta passes *sigh*

@xdragon2k I dont see how that could ever be secured. SSL works because the packets sent are dynamic, but if the same data was always sent, then a man-in-the-middle attack would be unavoidable. The best they could do to secure it would be to send an encrypted token, which means the hacker wont know the identity of the cardholder, etc but they could still clone that token hash and embed it into another RFID chip and use that. To me this technology sounds inherently vulnerable to fraud.

@eggiex1 Unless if it's already in production and they don't want the exploit to be easily accessible through a regular TV show until they secure it (if they ever try to secure it).

@xdragon2k Right, but... is that the "myth" that the mythbusters would try to bust? i.e. the myth as to whether or not they are secure? Also, I don't understand why the credit card companies would fight this so much. More fraud due to -this- piece of crap technology means more fraud claims for -them- and more -lost revenue- for -them- since there are laws to protect costumers against fraudulent purchases. I would imagine the cc companies would benefit the most from banning this shit.

@eggiex1 Now that you mentioned it. RFID, as I imagine it, can be very insecure. If you think that a chip that can "broadcast" an ID that a nearby device can pick up (no swiping necessary), you can pretty much have a scanning device that can pickup these ID and start stealing people's RFID enabled credit card number and replicate it to pay for stuff very easily.

What's this RFID thing? Can someone give a quick summary of what "myth" they would have explored in such an episode with regards to RFID?
the only thing evil needs to conquer, is the ability for those who do good, to ignore the good around them. All people live in a box. Step outside the picture for a minute. ALL of these people and most everyone who owns a form of currency/credit/debt...depend on that known form of trading. What Big Companies are saying (in misinformed terms and corrupt values), is that THEY have now grown to be big enough to knowingly misrepresent and steal what you think you've worked hard for. Protection.
