Peter Barnes - Together We Win - Business Online. This is a part of a presentation video Peter Barnes did in 1990 (20 years old), outlining the key to winning. The coach cannot win the football game - It's the team that wins. Together We Win.

"The comments in this video are not new or revolutionary. I used the 'together' concept, not only as a business direction but in marketing campaigns for clients. Most people respond favorably to work with others or join with others in positive programs or opportunities. In a world that is becoming increasingly individualistic and materialistic, we need to realise that we still need other people and they need us." - Peter Barnes 2010

Peter Barnes was a senior advertising and marketing executive. General Manager and Creative Director of MDA Barr Woollard Cawrse NT (changed name to Mattingly Woollard Cawrse NT) - head office was in Darwin. Acting General Manager and Creative Director of Young & Rubicam Retail (Y&R Adelaide). Senior Art Director and Group Head of Ogilvy and Mather (Adelaide).

"While in the Territory, I was asked by a promoter to get the Northern Territory Government's support for a Michael Jackson performance from Uluru. This included financial support for the proposed concert which was to be broadcast worldwide from the rock. I obtained the NT Governments support for the concert but Michael Jackson canceled his Australia tour. What a spectacular concert that would have been with the super star performing at the iconic rock. It's hard to believe that Michael Jackson died a year ago today " - Peter Barnes 25 June 2010

"The demise of Kevin Rudd today 24 June 2010 and the appointment of Julia Gillard as Prime Minister of Australia, bought back some memories for me how brutal politics is (watch Kevin Rudd's final farewell speech as PM). In 1988, Steve Hatton, the then Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, asked me to be a senior marketing adviser to him and the Northern Territory Government. I left my position as General Manager and Creative Director of the Darwin advertising agency to take up the appointment. On the day I arrived for work with Steve Hatton, he was replaced as Chief Minister and I became instantly unemployed and returned to live in South Australia shortly after. It was a similar situation to why Kevin Rudd was replaced by his Australian Labor Party colleagues, where Steve Hatton's Country Liberal Party (CLP) colleagues believed he had lost communication with the general population. That's why I was appointed by Steve Hatton, to correct this situation - unfortunately I didn't get the chance to assist him. Political leaders, in particular, need to project they work with others as a team and make this obvious to the general community. One can see the consequences today with the Rudd Government when this doesn't happen or is perceived not to be happening. A leaders style and position is enhanced by a supportive team around him or her. Inclusive community communication adds strength to that style of leadership. It should be highlighted that Julia Gillard is Australia's first female PM and will lead the ALP to an election this year" - Peter Barnes
