Boat trip at Paracas and Ballestas Islands in Peru to see the wildlife.
This was the second day of my South American trip - 30 April 2010.
The Paracas National Reservation is located in Ica, Peru. Its main purpose is to preserve the sea ecosystem and protect the historical cultural heritage.
The reserve is home to many species of wildlife, particularly birds.
Within the reserve you can also find natural wonders such as La Catedral ('the Cathedral') or a mysterious historical Geoglyph called the Paracas Candelabra.
Ballestas Islands is the name of the islands means "Crossbow", so named according to local fishermen. The group of three islands has narrow shorelines and cliffs that rise to flan areas that cover an area of 3.2 square kilometers.
In the breeding season this is where birds build their nests with their own droppings. These droppings, the famous guano fertilizer, are harvested every 4-7 years.
The boat trip to Ballestas Islands provides an opportunity to easily watch resident and migratory birds, including flamingos, red-legged cormorants, Inca terns, bobbies, as well as playful sea lions, and amusing Humboldt penguins.

Viaje en barco a Paracas e Islas Ballestas en el Perú para ver la fauna.
Este fue el segundo día de mi viaje por América del Sur - 30 de abril de 2010.
La Reserva Nacional de Paracas está ubicada en Ica, Perú. Su principal objetivo es preservar el ecosistema marino y la protección del patrimonio histórico cultural.
La reserva es el hogar de muchas especies de fauna silvestre, especialmente aves.
Dentro de la reserva también se pueden encontrar maravillas naturales como La Catedral ('la catedral') o un geoglifo misteriosa histórico llamado el Candelabro de Paracas.
Islas Ballestas es el nombre de las islas significa "Crossbow", llamado así de acuerdo con los pescadores locales. El grupo de tres islas tiene estrechas costas y acantilados que se elevan a las áreas flan que cubren una superficie de 3,2 kilómetros cuadrados.
En la época de reproducción es aquí donde las aves construyen sus nidos con sus propios excrementos. Estos excrementos, el famoso fertilizante de guano, se cosechan cada 4-7 años.
El viaje en barco a las Islas Ballestas ofrece la oportunidad de ver con facilidad las aves residentes y migratorias, incluyendo flamencos, cormoranes de patas rojas, zarcillos, piqueros, así como los leones de mar juguetones y divertidos pingüinos de Humboldt.
