SoniQ, born as Delano Felter in Suriname, went to the Netherlands as a 2 year old. He grew up listening to all kinds of music which had a great influence throughout his life.

He began listening to rap music at the age of 11, and became so fascinated by it that he started to write his own lyrics. In 1991 he started a band together with his nephew and two friends called KéShaw. They were the first group ever from Europe to be signed by the legendary Motown label in the U.S.

After leaving the group after 14 years he decided to embark on a new adventure. In the meantime he worked with well-known artists such as Rocq-E- Harrell, Teddy Riley (Blackstreet), Keith Sweat, Edsilia Rombley, Birgit Schuurmans, Dignity, Postmen, Yuli (Idols), Willeke Alberti, TMF, Metropole orchestra and many others.
In 2005 SoniQ joined a production team called 3rdDgree.
While working in 3rdDgree, SoniQ met Lil'Cute, a dancehall ragga artist and entrepreneur, with whom he later on would put up a company together.

This company, The Empire Media, is now record company and homebase of several artists and SoniQ's producing. Here he extended the list of artists he worked with. Gyptian, Turbulence and Warrior King are amongst them. He also featured as a vocalist on several projects. A few examples are 'Sound of Love' and 'If you feel' with DJ Captain Black, 'Grown man thing' with UK based rappers Roxxxanne and RT-Kal, 'This Klub' with MC DEAMS and 'Glad you're still my girl' with Ron-Le-Bass.
SoniQ is now working on his own album, called 'Me, Redefined'. This album is a mixture of feelgood soulmusic, grooving ballads and uptempo R&B/Hiphop clubsongs that will have you moving. The first single of this album is called 'I just wanna be' and it's due to be released in Oktober 2011.
