@thetbomb Because unfortunately Israelis live with the possibility that a terrorist attack can occur at any moment and soldiers have to be ready just in case that happens. I happen to pray in a synagogue in Jerusalem in which one of the members used to bring his automatic weapon into the synagogue on instructions of the Rabbi.
