Every Friday night in the summer, my hometown Escondido holds an enormous car show on Grand Ave. It has been growing a lot, and has attracted hundreds from around the county. Seen here is a slideshow of pictures I took there one night. I apologize about blurriness and pictures out of focus as I sometimes took the picture and started walking too soon :(. Hope you enjoy it though!

Music is "Feel the Need in Me", "Drift Away", and "Got to Get You Off of My Mind", all from this era. Thanks for watching!

  • Lots of great looking cars. Thanks for uploading! I hope to be able to visit Escondido this summer and see the cars. I love car shows. With my photos nighttime shots present more difficulty with low light available. Flash usually looks unnatural so I found that a fast, bright, lens camera works best with low light & no flash, in low light. I like the Olympus C-5050 w/ F1.8 lens; the brightest lens point & shoot camera. I also do videos & have some uploaded if you care to check them out.

  • Thank you! I am pretty happy with how it turned out. That would be neat if you came here and made a video or something...we've got an astonishing variety every year! Where are you located? The camera I currently use (and used in this video) is a Canon A630. I had only had it a few weeks or so when I got the pics for this video so I wasn't exactly as familiar with the manual features as I am now. I did check out one of your videos...VERY NICE!

  • I'm in Maryland; I lived out in north San Diego county area several years in the past. Canon makes some very good digital cameras; I like Canon, Sony and Olympus. Manual controls for aperature and shutter control can help with a lot of shots, but the fast lens helps most if the camera is hand-held and used with no flash in low light. Using a tripod is a good way to get sharp, nighttime pictures with any camera, but, it's a pain to carry one around. Enjoyed it.

  • But wouldn't there not be enough light using your technique? When I try using faster shutter speeds without a flash in low light I end up with either blackness or a very dark picture.

  • Very nice!

  • thanks, I'll do it again this summer if you guys want. (Cruisin' Grand goes on only through the Fri. nights in the Summer)

  • wow nice cars

  • Even most of the DSLR cameras come with a F3.5 lens, which is not that bright, but they have the advantage of having a larger image sensor than Point & shoot cams, so the ISO setting can be set higher with less noise, plus some have image stabilization. (A Higher ISO setting allows a faster shutter speed in less light.) For the money, you can't hardly beat a used C-5050 for low light pics with no flash. Take pics w/ Noise reduction on, set it on "Tiff" and pictures are uncompressed and awesome.

  • It's a problem with most point & shoot cameras that have, at best, a F2.8 lens; some have F3.1. There are a few used cameras around (like the Olympus C-5050 and C-4040 that have an F1.8 lens) and you boost the ISO setting up to 400 and can generally get a good handheld picture if you have a very steady hand, good focus, and use a sufficient shutter speed. Unless a camera has the brighter, faster lens, you're forced to use the flash in low light situations, or a tripod.

  • lol wow that's a lot! you should film some of them if you get a chance!
