Day one of the CMS Scientific Council meeting has come to a close. The listing proposals Saker falcon, Red-footed falcon, Far Eastern curlew, Bristle-thighed Curlew, Giant manta ray, Argali and Bobolink have all be discussed in detail. The Migratory Wildlife Network spent today advocating for increased attention for narwhal (to be listed on Appendix I), north pacific orca (to be listed on Appendix I) and polar bear, as well as confirming the scientific case for progressing an agreement for cetacean in the Indian Ocean, and another in South East Asia The global programme of work for cetaceans and CMS's role in climate change both were reviewed and have made it through the first muster. These issues will all be considered again in the Scientific Council plenary tomorrow.
