@BrUnEiBhOy1 ofcourse there will be a need 2nd pilot though, because I remembered when I was working to reconfigure an Airbus A319 into VIP configuration for His Majesty use, there were words saying that he was flying the aircraft himself aswell. As for the germans, im aware that Lufthansa techniks people are the ones who do the maintenance work on those. Thanks for your information though btw, you must have a very rich dad then. :p

@Manatauapa IT IS THE SULTANS AIRCAFT YA MUPPET MA DADS FLYING IT A SHOULD NO RBA DONT HAVE CATGO PLANES
-
@liquidmetal87 its nt the sultan tht does it its ma dad from scotland whos the pilt and the germans the sultans not on it
-
The Sultan of Brunei usually makes 'touch and go' routines and circuits around Bandar area quite a few times every week ( as far as I can remember when working with RBA). But to see His Majesty doing this in Miri is quite surprising..maybe all of his aircrafts ( 767, A340) are doing the same routine on the same days as well..hence He went to Miri..haha. Just my 2 cents
-
hahahaa... what the hell... that plane is doing a circuit. They need to test the plane and run the engine and stuff. =)
-
Hi all,
This is RBA's cargo plan. This is not the Sultan of Brunei's 747.
-
may my sultan live for ever
-
Flaps give lift but decrease speed.Sometime you will see big planes uses takeoff flaps at certain level. When its in final, then it go full flap.
-
an ILS approach.. i can't imagine B747 doing circuit.. lol....
-
RBAfleet - No idea? He just flew round and round for several laps. Maybe the airspace is quieter here. Or the airport fees are cheaper. :p
And BSB is something like 200KM away, so if he'd taken off from there he'd be a speck in the sky by now for those of us here, whoever's piloting the plane is definitely using Miri airport for some touch n go practice.
-
no idea... the flaps look like a landing one. if he took off in BSB airport he should be climbing to the crusing altitude by now.
-
nice...why sultan of Brunei didn't use his own airport instead???
-
It can land, there's no doubt. But there's no aerobridge for the 747's upper decks. Some sources even say the aerobridges aren't usable for it at all, only suited for airbuses. The runway is able accommodate for 747s, but the terminal isn't very ready. Plus all the passengers would have to disembark from the 747 using ladders parked quite a distance away from the terminal. It serves as a publicity bonus or emergencies if the need arise but for service routes it isn't suitable for 747s at all.
-
who told u that? Boeing B747 can landed in miri airport. In 2003, Former prime minister Mahathir mohammad open the ceremony miri airport and he watch B747 landing miri airport. Why u say its not suited for B747. Even Bintulu can suited for B747.
-
The Miri non-International Airport isn't suited for 747s. Yet, the airspace is cleared for this 747 flying circuit. I don't know if it actually landed or not (touch and go) but a 747 over Miri is very rare :)
-
I don't understand what you're trying to say.
-
What i mean is that plane landed & take off just second due to shorter runaway. The runaway isn't suited for 747 yet. Besides, Miri airport doesn't have twin aerobridge.
-
What do you mean??
-
Yup.. I believe that's his majesty's personal plane..
It went round and round several more times. If that's not a circuit, what is it then?

maybe they are spying over our city.

haha, what do we have that they don't??

That's 100% his majesty. RBA has only B767 as its largest fleet. By the way, I saw the plane's flaps have been expanded from the wings... Is it take off flaps or landing ones?

He's just flying circuit and I would assume it's touch and go... so i guess that's a landing configuration.
