Whatever the circumstances, in the mountains of rural Southwestern Virginia, the stories intersect on the third Wednesday of the month at the Patrick County Community Food Bank. To those commenting on the cars- entire families and their friends may depend on those cars to get them to work, church, medical treatment, school. It may be the last thing of value they own from when they were better off. If they sell the car and buy an older one, they might be faced with expensive repairs constantly.
Thousands in CA are living in their vehicles now- it's the only option for safe shelter and independence.
There will always be scammers- look at Congress, banks, the Senate.

I had an elderly cousin who gave away his winter coat to a woman who was in need. Someone asked him why he did it- how did he know he wasn't being ripped off? He said he couldn't know- maybe for every five people who asked for help, 4 were scammers. But the fifth really needed help. Denying help to everyone would hurt those few. He leaves it to God.

The video was well done. I live in Ararat VA. I agree with the lady on the video who said she would not want to live anywhere else. I agree. I love our county and their are some good people here. Bless you for helping those who can't help themselves.
