The Day Music Died - Michaael Jackson dead at 50

06/25/09 8:55PM EST.

It was just 3 hrs ago that I read on yahoo.com that Michael Jackson had been hospitalized after being found unresponsive. The news was courtesy of Tmz.com and to be quite honest I was quite skeptical and didn't think too much of it but said a silent prayer for a full recovery in the event it was true. Was waiting for an express bus home 30 minutes later when I got a text - "Michael Jackson died." Wow. It felt like being punched in the stomach by Mike Tyson after finishing a 3 course meal. What a loss! 2.5 half hours later I'm still in shock. Here is the LAPD death confirmation courtesy of CNN.

Today is truly the day music died. RIP Michael Jackson.

... RIP Farrah Fawcett. You passed on only a few hours ago at 62. You're gone but not forgotten among this disarray.

@xlCoyoteHD Feb. 2 1959, while tragic, did not have the global impact that Michael Jackson's death did. While Don Mclean was entitled to his opinion, I would wager that many felt that music lived on healthily after 2/3/59..heck, the beatles emerged only a short while later. Not many will dispute that music was not the same after Michael Jackson's death on 6/25/09 - hence the title of this video. Cheers.
