  • @dominuskern Same here.International Airport 2 miles away with a Turbine and Crude Power Plant 1 mile from our Station. We train 3 hours per week and are the busiest Vol. Station in the County. We take training very serious..Good too hear some fellow Brothers come out and support and stick up for one another..Keep your head up and be proud..

  • @Lieutenant7b Good post, Im a VFF and our coverage area has an airport, a major recreational lake, lots of urban interface in addition to traditional structures. Im on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in addition to working, being a fulltime student and maintaining 6 hours of medical/fire training a week. Ive worked with VFFs who know the answer to any question I can ask, as well as PFFs who dont know how to get their head out of their ass long enough to open a hydrant.

  • My heart goes out to the people living next door.

  • @brc028 Thats funny, you say we are all brothers across the country, but then you go and bash Volunteer Firefighters,hmm...By the reply's that I've read on here by the BFD, professionalism is lacking in techniques and character.I can see it now,BFD Chief's go on youtube and orders drug testing on all members.Firefighting is more than fighting structure fires.Airport Firefighting,Wildland and Water Vessel. You can consider yourself a legitimate FF when your disciplined in all.

  • @ForBoston523 I'd have my gear near the truck or engine, where its suppose to be.How hard is it to take your shoes off and jump into bunk's.I agree with wearing your gear, all of it! Was there a R.I.T set-up at the scene? I know of a situations where an Engineer had to assist in a rescue effort.Bfd may have the personnel not to be caught in this situation, but I'd rather be prepared for the unexpected.

  • @ffjsb I remember that video, our instructor at the Fire Academy had us watch that several times a week back in the 90's, everytime I see an open coat, no helmet etc. that image flashes back into my head, a very, very disturbing thing to witness, that easily could have been prevented, but hey everybody knows the risk, we are all grownups.

  • These guys were trying to go "Backdraft" with no scba's and coats undone

we all know BFD is better than this but that wasnt their best performance...

  • @cgvfd1156 Well the guy on the ladder with his cut undone etc. Personally his ppe wont do diddly crap if he fails from that or through the roof.. just saying not defending it. I'm all for PPE, I don't even vent a roof without my scba, to hell with sucking up that crap i say!

  • I like the music,so those of you who don't, do what I do...hit the "mute" button.

What's scary is the close proximity of those houses...a fire like that could take out the whole block in no time.

  • pUT tHE sOUND oFF !!
