This is a show we did back in 1988 with the great storyteller, Ramblin' Jack Elliott.
Redding Community Access Television was only months old when the Prism Music Society brought Jack to Redding.
When other folks were using access TV do promote politics or some other cause, I used the facilities to do music.
The fondest memory I have of this show is the after show party at Namaste's house. Jack brought his tour bus to Namaste's tiny street. We sat for hours with Jack getting our heads right and listening to his incredible tales.
This is an incredible 90 minute concert from one of America's great treasures.
Just a note about the video...It's an old old tape. There are a few audio dropouts during the first song but after that looks and sounds great. Enjoy!

Does anyone know if this is avalable elsewhere without the skips and jumps? Its so good, but soooooo frustrating that its kind of messed up!

Sorry...this is from the one and only master tape of the performance. It's a miracle the master tape survived at all. I saved my tape from the hot storage locker at the TV station that sponsored the gig and did my best to restore and remaster it a bit before putting it here and storing it on a hard drive.

Well thanks for your work sir, this is truly a gem. Saw Jack a few years ago at chicago blues fest and when he started to play house of the rising sun the clouds opened and downpoured on us. Amazing time.

I wish RJE would write and record more of his own music. If I wanted to hear Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie or Leadbelly, I can listen to them. RJE tells such great stories, he doesn't need anybody else's material.

Jack is Jack. Thanks for this fantastic post. South Coast (@ approx 24 min mark) is a fantastic version of that tune.
