It would've been even better if the AI had been able to get Kyle to do a jump attack and cancel Magnadeus' Last Vanisher right from the start of the battle. xD

Sages and red sages, yes. You can get them by refining your other herbs, and by using the magical pot. Or he might possibly be using some level 8 ability slot that raises max HP.
