Did they really say "purity of marriage?" Which half of those who participate in marriage are we talking about: the ones who are still in a marriage, or the ones who are divorced? What about the ones who are in their second or third marrige, arranged marriage, shotgun marriage, marriage of convenience, open marriage? I guess gay marriage is the scapegoat of the decade, dragging society downward by loving eachother and trying to commit to a lifelong marriage. No On 8. It's a dumb idea.

Marriage by itself is pure. The people who marry and do not honor there matrimony are the people who end up divorced. Like you mention there are lots of misused forms of marriage and same-sex is one less we need.

Not all cultures recognize marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

In some cultures a man may have up to four wives, others have no limit.

In Tibet polyandry is practiced, in fact a man and his son can share the same wife.

At points in ancient Chinese history a man could have several wives AND several concubines.

My point does not cover gay marriage, it only questions your definition of "traditional".

The divorced ones only account for 1/2. What about the marriages which linger on, both participants carrying on affairs, domestic violence, child abuse? If you want to protect marriage, outlaw divorce and create stronger laws which actually protect families. This preservation of marriage thing is a lie. It's another bad excuse to blame a minority for the problems in the general population, kind of like a witch hunt, or Macarthyism. Your religious ideals shouldn't control human rights. No ON 8!

...I want to tell them it is marriage,and when they discover marriage is okay between the same sex maybe they will believe so too. That is what Prop 8 would prevent.I want my children to see opposite sex marriage as the only form of marriage.

Marriage will change for me and everyone else if Prop 8 fails. As the laws permit gay marriages homosexuality will have growth. My future children will live in a nation where marriage has two types(traditional or gay). I do not want my children or the youth of our nation to see homosexuality as a basic principle, or norm. When I teach my children what the correct way to unify in a relationship is.....

If you believe in God you should know he does not bring people into existence being gay. Skin color is a physical characteristic not a mental or spiritual characteristic. You are the one that chooses the person you want to be with, you are the one that chooses to have sex with that person, your are the one that chooses to continue that behavior. Skin color is something your born with, you cannot change it, you cannot choose it, and you must stay with it.........

I disagree with you about whether being gay is a "choice" or a "lifestyle". I don't believe that people choose to be gay, just like people don't choose skin color when they are born.

Marriage will not change for you, for me, or any other heterosexual if Prop. 8 fails. You will still be able to get married. How exactly has marriage changed for you personally since the ban was lifted and so many gay couples got married?
