  • also to clarify:

she entered an "AFRO-HAITIAN" dance class on a thursday.. the instructor asked her to perform with her on saturday... I recorded it and posted it here so her mother in another state could watch it. Please keep in mind this video was not intended to offend anyone nor do any of the dancers claim to be Haitian or profesional.

I would think it flattering for a Haitian to see someone from different cultures or ethnic backgrounds take an interest in the ART & DANCE of Haiti.

  • id would really love to see some video of that..

and to those whom think this is a literal translation or exact replica of your cultures routine, heres my story:

an ex girlfriend of mine was very much into LEARNING the dance of various cultures because to her, life is reflective of "the dance". Wether it is Haitian, Latin, French, Tribal... whatever, she LOVED to just DANCE.

  • Well done guys!

As for the title, we don't use Afro-anything in Haiti because we are simply Haitians.

  • I love this video....

  • this girl did very well to learn her steps in 3 days, but she is on a mission and she is going to fast, not feeling the spirit of poor and suffering peoples, unwinding and letting themselves go to another place, well done indeed

  • @The MissMissie

Trust me there is no money to be made in Haitian dancing, or really any other kind of dancing for that matter. If someone has devoted their time and passion to learning about Haiti's culture, it is a labor of love, nothing else.

  • @TheMissMissie

why do you talk about "stealing" and not about "sharing" something? if you learn a foreign language, do you think, that you have stolen something? dancing is also a form of language and a deep expression of cultural identity. in the moment someone is trying to learn dances of a different culture, he is learning much more than only movements. haiti has such a strong & rich culture & it might be also a sign of respect and passion, that someone want´s to learn more about it ...

  • and fucking remove the term AFRO FROM THE HAITI...

  • white people excuse my term but its thte truth always come to island always trying to steal and say were a poor cluture whatever ...ya'll take our shit and make money off it ... and attach haiti to it and perhaps never step near a damn dance troop from the islands

  • @chachouw48 cuz those white girls are haitians

  • Alo Haitians, Americans, Africans, and everyone else... I am the choreographer. Thanks for watching. The term "Afro-Haitian" was chosen to educate people. Many in my classes and audiences do not know much about Haiti. The dances are both African (in their roots) and Haitian (in continued interpretation). Case in point the traditional songs are mostly in Kreyol, not in Yoruba or another African language as they are in Cuba. Interesting point of debate.

  • Can somebody please tell me the track ID please ? I really need to know !!! Thank you.

  • this is really nice. im haitian and proud to see somebody from another culture doing this. african blood is in our veines. what s the name of that groupe
