Jay Farmer, Trell Lewis, Rocky McKaufman and Leonardo Pettis -- collectively, Joose -- came out of the gospel music community in Oklahoma City, and the strong gospel training showed in their work. Really outstanding harmonies and a spirituality that came through even when singing secular songs. In 1997, they hit the Adult Contemporary and Urban AC charts with an interesting cover of fellow Oklahoman Garth Brooks' "If Tomorrow Never Comes," turning an instant country classic into a beautiful soul ballad. The remainder of the album Joose had a decidedly old school sound that was extremely entertaining. The real gem of the album was "The Rain". They dedicate this song to the people of Haiti.
Tuesday afternoon, January 12, 2010, the worst earthquake in 200 years - 7.0 in magnitude - struck less than ten miles from the Caribbean city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake.
