Sure it is. It would just take a lot of training. And it's just that nowadays games aren't that hard and nobody would bother training a couple of days maybe just to beat this game when they can use an emulator and save the game whenever they want.

As for the C64 version - I've never seen it. But my cousins had a C64 and I remember that they once told me they had Mousetrap and they beat it. But just because the game would run with some kind of a cheat for unlimited lives.

  • @grisznik I gave this game a go today on C64, on a real hardware. Hm, it's a little bit different - slower I think and therefore easier. I've reached level five loosing only one life but...that's it. I believe that C64 version is beatable but Atari XL one isn't :P

  • @damjen666

Yeah, but that's what I'm saying - you can't save your game on the Atari computer, can you?

After I beat the game, the game went on working and got me into the first level again. I had 8 lives and wanted to see how far I'd get with those without saving. Managed to get to level five......

  • @grisznik Wow, congratulations!

I have a working Atari 800 XE, data cassette player and the original tape so I won't need an emulator :) The problem is I might be throwing the joystick against the wall at some point playing the game ;)

  • @damjen666

I've never played Spindizzy, must find it and see what it's all about.

And I beat Mouse Trap today, saving the game after every level.

Took me like two hours and a thousand tries cumulated on most of the levels (on some of the later levels I only needed like 3 tries).

If you want to try beating the game I can help and send you the emulator and tell you where to look for games.

Hi, is one year later too late? Do you still want to play some good ol' Atari XL/XE games?

If so, let me know, I believe I can help :)

  • @grisznik I can't even imagine myself beating this game, same as Spindizzy. God, games were sooooo hard back in the days...

  • @damjen666

Same as me. Now I use an emulator and save after every level (not during levels - I want to pass every level from beginning till the end). And I need like 30-40 tries on some levels. How on earth were you supposed to beat the game if it takes so many tries just to figure out how to beat the level?

Let's say you know how to pass level 5, you do that, have 3 tries at level six, you have to beat first five levels again and have another 3 or 4 tries, and start over. And again. And again..

  • I won this one, once or twice.

    It was fun ;)

  • One of the cutest games on Atari :)
