Bakersfield City Councilmember Jacquie Sullivan responded to Terri and Tim Palmquist's comments at the September 9 meeting by attempting to refer the parking issue to a committee. During the ensuing discussion, Sullivan acknowledges inconsistencies in the existing parking policy and City Attorney Ginny Gennaro acknowledges that Council members have a right to send this issue to a committee. But at the subsequent meeting, Sullivan backtracked, declaring that the issue cannot be discussed by the Council because of the "consistent parking policy" which has existed for years. (In reality, we have already proven to the Council that there was no written policy on this and that the supposed "policy" has not been applied consistently.) Please join us at the next Council meeting, October 7, to express concerns about this and about the confiscation of our crosses!
