Sold-out László Dés-concerts in Uránia National Movie Theatre and the Dohány Street Synagogue
For the first time in the history of the Jewish Summer Festival in Budapest a series of concerts was organised with the aim to direct attention to such Hungarian composers and performing artists who have been key players of the Hungarian musical and cultural scenery for decades. One of these emblematic personalities is László Dés.
Due to his prolific career, the performance of all his works would have been impossible. His compositions were performed in the interpretation of such outstanding artist like Ferenc Snétberger, Tamás Somló, Dorottya Udvaros, Eszter Váczi, Ági Szalóki and Angéla Póka. A special evening of the series was the concert 'Word and Music', with recitals from their own works by the greatest writers of contemporary Hungarian literature -- Lajos Parti Nagy, Péter Esterházy, György Spiró and Pál Závada Pál -- accompanied by improvisations by László Dés, András Dés and József Barcza Horváth.
For the generation in their 40's and 50's László Dés's album called 'Átutazó' ('Travelling Through') became a legendary musical experience with Dorottya Udvaros. The complete material of the album has not been staged for almost 20 years, so with respect to the exceptional demand for tickets the organisers decided to make an exception and stage the concert twice.
