Maybe you only heard CarreraS without the sportexhaust, which is available, when you buy a new one.
This Carrera4S has this exhaust..it's available for the RWD an the 4WD...so, the sound is the same ;)

Is it just me or do the 4-wheel drive Porsches sound even a bit more agressive than the 2wd?

yeah that porsche is tuned somewhat.. can't tell to what extent bc I have a 911C4s and it sounds nothing like that, even when I turn on sports mode.
