This is a first look and first tutorial on the fantastic Hype app and program for the Macintosh. This program allows you to create HTML5 web pages and HTML5 animation. In some ways it is Flash substitute.

  • This is bloody brilliant! Thanks.

One issue though- I can't seem to drag a audio file from my iTunes into Hype, it just doesn't work. It seemed to work for you- any suggestions?

  • @redzone10 You can't drag it out of the iTunes interface, rather make sure in iTunes you select the music, then right click or option click and select show "Show in Finder" or go to the file drop down menu in iTunes and select "Show in Finder." That will take you to the actual audio file. Drag that actual audio file into Hype page you want the music to be in. You wont see anything there but there will be a "video track" in the tracks section of Hype which corresponds to your audio file.

  • This is an awesome app!

BUT!! . How can i delete the watermark? "Built with Hype"

    Thanks for thte tutorial!!

  • @MARIOJOO When you export your project either to Dropbox or to a folder as an HTML5 project, the last window of the export will havethree checkboxes on the bottom. Uncheck the box "Show 'Built with Hype'". You will no longer have the Hype watermark.

  • I am not able to figure out how to publish individual scenes in one HTML page. It seems you can only save it as HMTL5 with a folder of assets.

  • Once you put your video into a scene, you can go into the inspector window and choose Element Inspector. At the bottom, it will reference your video. There are 4 settings to check or uncheck: Autoplay, controls, loop and muted. The default is always checked to Autoplay. Checking controls will put the standard play and pause and video controls. I don't know how to have buttons control the videos other than that control. Hype allows a button to run a javascript.
