This is one of the more complex 8-finger charts i've written, created late january of 2006.

when i first heard the song, concepts for a stepchart immediately started popping in my head. the use of constant ostinato along with the versatility of the 3/4 time signature lended easily to the metric modulation and other time effects i wrote in the chart.

it's not my best execution, but it's been a while and i'm lazy. it's played on "blind" because it's easier for me to read and there are some issues with syncing that i haven't gotten around to fixing yet.

Like my other 8-finger charts, this is conceived to be played across a single row on the QWERTY keyboard to be read from left to right (i use SDFG HJKL).

  • I tried playing piano phase with a friend on marimba over a year ago. Its not hard to play itself but, well, the phasing is annoyingly hard to get down.

  • i heard one performance of it live when i was in my undergrad. they kind of cheated by having one person do constant tempo for most of the "in phase" moments and then accelerate slightly to shift to the next eighth note phase as opposed to it being a constant phase. It was still cool.

i don't know how well i would do at trying to perform it. I'll stick to things like Nagoya. That's a fun one to play. :)

  • that's some good co-ordination, are you a piano player because that is pretty good

  • piano was the first instrument i learned. i'm also a percussionist, so both of those things come into play. Thanks. :)

  • this is pretty cool, but I must say... you missed out on the phasing part, which is the best part of the whole song!

  • oh, i didn't write the arrangement, i just used it for the stepmania thing. yeah, no real use of 'phasing' in the track, but some neat stuff nonetheless. :)

  • It seems very repetitive.

  • @Ghakimx supposed to be. Minimalist composers love to repeat themselves. Minimalist composers love to repeat themselves

  • @Ghakimx i hope that's a joke....it's not about melody.....watch clapping music with animation to get an understanding of how this guy composes his music, he's only classified as minimalistic because of his approach to composing, but playing it is far from minimal!

  • This is madness!

  • Bravo dude! Amazing chart and performance.
