Karla Garcia was part of the top 7 female dancers in Season Five of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance."
From learning traditional Philippine folk dances, she went on to dance for the National Tour of "Wicked", the Broadway show "Hot Feet", and the VH1 Divas Live show behind Jordin Sparks. She has a BFA in dance and a minor in Journalism from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. She is also a member of the Boogie Bots Crew (from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, Season 2). She has been featured in works by Mia Michaels, Dwight Rhoden, Stacey Tookey, Kyle Abraham, Bridgette Moore, Ray Leeper, Marguerite Derricks, and Nappytabs.
Other credits include performing in Carnivale Choreographer's Ball, a series of Lucille Roberts Fitness commercials, Debbie Allen's "Brother's of the Knight," Ray Leeper's "Common Grounds," and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Now residing in Brooklyn, New York, she teaches and choreographs at select studios all over the east coast and continues to perform. Karla is on faculty with Dance Educators of America competition and Dancer's Inc. She constantly strives for creative growth, as she combines influences from her technical background with different textures of contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. She believes that dance is an evolving art, with room for new ideas, bold innovation and a myriad of cultural influences. Karla teaches a weekly class at Pearl Studios in New York City.
