http://www.ngonipeople.com/ A traditional christian song sung in the original language of the Ngoni of Mzimba. Ngoni language was ancient zulu and is spoken in a few small pockets of Mzimba district in Malawi. The title means in english, 'Our Father we come near to you.' and is a prayer to God. It was composed in the late 1800s and forms part of Izingoma zobukhristu hymn book of the Livingstonia synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian in Malawi. See http://allthingsngoni.blogspot.com/2009/02/songs-in-original-ngoni-language.html for more details.

  • The ngoni are originally from Zululand and left Zululand during the Shaka Zulu wars. They are part of the nguni family and speak a language which is much closer to isiZulu as evidenced by Zulu scholars such as Clement Doke.
