BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH! You are an ignoramus! And you are mentally ill. If you don't like Maria then go listen to Tebaldi or whoever you like. I happen to Love Maria and don't care what you think. BTW, Learn how to spell, it makes it obvious that you are also figaronight, mtaventino, and all the other rude vulgar pompous asses who make the same comments against Maria. You are comical.

@ganimaedes No no the year is for sure 1953!!
-
i think the year is 1955, not 1953. Totally great, and unconventional.

This is simply why I am a true devotee to my recording of the Cavalleria rendered by them... such a touching complement of emotions can make both of them together!! Simply the definite rendition of the Cavalleria Rusticana!!

I am of the bel canto tradition, the line of Tetrazzinni. I can tell you that opera and bel canto died with Callas. All the great teachers are retired or dead. The current "voices" lack the technique and attemp the roles. They lack the dedication as well. The work fueled by intense love. They all falsely color with the tongue furrowed or dipping. Maria was and remains a giant. A Goddess in the Greek tradition of one's purpose fulfilled. The last La Divina.

you must be a star, are you? How dare you make such comments? Well, obviously you are elderly and losing your senses. I apologize for being rude, I wish you happy ignorance.

Well, the sound has quite a bit of penetration and size for an anemic then.
This has to be one of the most emotionally charged versions of this duet ever! Callas makes you believe Santuzza's heart is breaking, she is just always so amazing! On her high note in the middle (after Turiddu's "Va") it is packed with so much emotion it can make you cry. Di Stefano is also wonderful bringing also lots of emotion as he always does. Thanks for posting this!
