  • Got my S-61 Harmony Archtop Tenor on last Monday ... yes, Summer of '61, how cool is that? Man, tho, it does kinda need a refret ... :p Gotta ask tho, I use DGBD "bluegrass" tuning - able to suggest string gauges for that (currently using .10, .14, .22w, .32)?

  • @TinfootTall

    I would go heavier

    just my opinion

  • @davey4557

What I suspected - there is a set of John Pearse Tenor Guitar strings at .013, .020, .030, .042 ... seems almost too heavy? I am primarily a banjo player, so really only know the lighter side - so to speak. lol

  • @TinfootTall

they wont feel heavy on that scale of a guitar.

remember it's shorter that a regular archtop

  • Just bought a 1963 Harmony H1213 from the local shop. It's got some flaws (broken pickguard, top crack, top and back separating from the sides in a few places) but it oozes mojo, and it plays and sounds fantastic. It's definitely got stories to tell.

    Fix er up. :)
