  • Open mouth, insert foot! I only watched the first half of the video and though the whole game was that little isometric view. Oops.

  • Haha....this is the most pathetic version of Ballblazer ever.... the Atari 800 version totally destroys this piece of crap. Even the tune is nerve wrecking in this NES version, aaah, switch it off!!

  • thats a boring ballblazer !

    NINTENDO SHOULD APOLOGIZE ATARI !!!

....i feel bad today was the first time i tried to play 3ds

    AND I LIKED IT

  • REAL fucked shit NES.

    Atari in better in all.

  • This is why the 7800 is better than the NES. ATARI PWNS!

  • @sentidocomunve - There are still ways of using tile graphics to generate pseudo-3D environments - particularly simple ones like the checkerboard. Ballblazer's graphics on the 7800 were fairly uncomplicated even by that machine's standards, and the NES had considerably more processing power available to it than the Atari 8-bit computers. What was done in hardware on the Atari could have been done in software on the NES more elegantly and cleanly than how it appears they did.

  • So unfortunate - it's a terrible conversion. The NES is a considerably more advanced machine than the Atari 8-bit computers that Ballblazer was written on, and it could EASILY have reproduced the graphics, with anti-aliasing, as well as the sound.

It looks like it was kind of a half-assed effort, unfortunately. I know some of the stuff that went into the original game, but even in the early days of NES games, this sort of thing wasn't terribly difficult. And Activision had some good people.

  • If anyone wants to see amazing graphics on the NES that are similar to Ballblazer, check out the two 3D World runner games, and Cosmic Epsilon. And for kick ass sounding music, check out Journey to Silius, and Castlevania 3.

  • I think most people think 1:24 is the actual game, I did at first too!
