A beautiful hike to the summit of Mweelrea. The highest mountain in Connaught at 2686ft. high or 815mtrs.Our route took us between two lakes into the centre of the glen and up by the ramp,a well known way to the summit.
@sandrasangels3 Hi there, usually hiking mweelrea by doing the full horseshoe takes about 7 hours but if you go up the ramp and back down the same way maybe about 5 to 6 hours. It`s a lovely mountain and the nicest route up is by Oughty Craggy to the summit of Ben Bury and across to the peak of mweelrea.
@CapVertigo Thanks very much, that means a lot to me.I have seen your videos of Mweelrea part 1 and part 2 and was really impressed. Am hoping for snow later this year or early next year so me and a friend can do the north side of Mweelrea with ice axe and crampons. When we get snow in Connemara its like being in Heaven for a climber. Thanks again.
Thats a great video. I went up on the horseshoe route which was essentially arriving at Ben Bury/Lugmore from the other side. So I could see down the "ramp" as I went from Bury to Lugmore. In snow it seemed impossible. Well done. I'm going to Favorite your Video and subscribe to your Channel which is A1. Stay in touch.
