Why Oh Why ???.

Why ??.
I am often asked from people,some that I´m acquainted with and many that don´t really know me at all..why is it that I am into campaigning against Breed Specific Legislation and why do I have such a keen avid interest and love for breeds that are associated with BAD publicity and frequent dog attacks ????.
I have been asked the same above thing..for as long as I can remember...probably well back into the 80´s when I was a teenager and when my interest was first aroused by ironically enough..the Media hype on so called ´Devil Dogs´.

When the ´Dangerous Dogs Act 1991´ was rushed through Parliament following a spate of particularly nasty attacks that sadly claimed young lives and maimed others by variant Bull´y breeds.......it wasn´t to be the death knell of such breeds as originally planned but instead caused further mayhem and chaos and helped turn more and mroe people against ANY dog that resembled a PitBull terrier.The other three dogs on the Banned Breed List,ironically were not responsible for any attacks YET were included anyway because they were originally bred for fighting and were deemed overly aggressive by nature.....they are so rare anyhow except for their native country of origin and in some places were a breed ban doesn´t exist,that once a mere handful of Tosa´s died naturally within the UK...their owners were unable to replace them.
I have met and known many many PB´s..BUT sadly have so far never had the opportunity to meet a Tosa,Fila Brasileiro and a Dogo Argentino....unless fate decide´s otherwise,I sadly think I never will......BSL has put paid to that.

Over the years....BSl has reached right around the entire Globe in all but a few areas and different Countries/States have different rules and regulations BUT most all ban at least a few breeds IF not more and other´s state that certain breeds must be registered,muzzled and leashed in any public place and kept within certain restrictions as well as being insured,etc.
Breed Ban´s do not work..that has been proven all over and all it has done,has claimed the lives of countless dogs,many of whom have done NO WRONG but whose only crime is to look like or resemble a PitBull.

Dog attacks are rife....they happen all the time and always will do.....ALL dogs have teeth and the capability to bite,attack and do considerable amount of damage even kill....WHY they do this is only known to them and need´s to be looked into.....it´s no good destroying them afterwards until such assesments and tests are done,because it´s a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted......we need to try and understand why ANY dog will attack in a seemingly unprovoked circumstance and what it´s background,history,owners,breeding and day to day enviroment are.

To say that ALL Bull´y breeds,Bull´y ´types´,Rottweilers,GSD´s,Tosa´s,etc.etc,etc.....are dangerous and that many such breeds should be banned outright or added to such lists..is ludicrous.
It would be like saying that all Muslims are Terrorists (no offence intended it´s just a very good demonstration of such racism being used against certain dog breeds).
Because that is what BSL is..it´s a form of prejudice and racism against a certain group of dogs and why I feel that it is only right to try and show people that there are NO such things as bad dogs BUT only unreputable breeders and irresponsible dog owners.

I have a friend who own´s a 5 yr old Jack Russell bitch...since he got her he´s allowed her to be aggressive towards most other dogs,to chase and potentially kill cats,rabbits,etc and even when she has gone for her his own daughter in the past at times and indeed other people..her appalling behaviour has been more or less shrugged off and laughed about.......that is total IRRESPONSIBILITY......BUT should this dog finally oneday do some real damage to somebody or some other poor animal.....will her story make new´s headlines ????..WILL IT HECK !!!.

Because very rarely does any other breed of dog that bite´s or causes severe damage make the news...which is why the usual breeds appear to be the most common,most frequent and most dangerous.....to anybody who didn´t know dogs - if you read about SBT´s,Rotties and PitBull´s everyday in a newspaper being involved in another dog attack upon a child or adult..it is only natural that that same person will become to see only the bad and negative in such breeds and so condemn them and call for them to be banned. So I try to show the good in the breeds.....and I talk to people about the farce that is the DDA and YES,I agree that dog attacks need to be dealt with BUT rather than continually target the dogs.....we need to address and sort out the real problem and that is the scrupulous breeders and the irresponsible owners. So that is WHY I love these breeds and why I campaign against BSL...because my voice is speaking for those that cannot.

its so stupid they would ban these dogs, they should ban the idiots who can't handle or know how to treat a dog and stop them from owning, not take the life of a beautiful creature that just needs understanding and help!
