What a bad quality, man...

@konijiro This leads to decreasing of skill level in the specific style EVERYWHERE, in time. And that is a possible result for kyokushin also if it would become olympic. Though I don't think it ever will... But the possibility's worth considering..

@konijiro What's the difference? Think about now days so called "sport karate".. Such as shotokan. It used to be a very good martial art, and of course is still if practiced right. Problem is that now days most people training it seriously are training for tournaments. Which means they are diminishing all other parts belonging to karate by the means of competing. Which means those people can never get very far in studying their style, and are just not all rounded in their own style.

Kyokushin karate is not about beating others to the mat but its about perfection of character and in tournaments its just a sport so all the players like my self are prepared what well be the result of the tournaments even what happens cause it is what we want & it is our life as a karateka ....
& we respect other martial arts also....so plssss dont judge our martial arts if you never ever tried it.....ossh

If you are talking competition, you are talking points. Otherwise, you have to have a system based on one man is on the ground, unconscious, while the winner is still standing.
It's an illusion to think WKF tournaments are not about points. It's all points, that's why it's a competition.
Otherwise, it remains for you to explain how "martial arts" are not "sports".

@asconan it will become taekwondo-like

@konijiro how could I know what the IKO is like? I don't practice Kyokushin, I practice Shito-ryu Shukokai.
I CAN however talk about the WKF tournaments (cause I have experience with those) and I can't say I am really happy about the way they are and what they have become.
The meaning, of what I said, if you didn't understand it, is that karate is a martial art, not a sport. If it does enter the olympic games, we will see a lot of "point" karatekas, who only care about poitns, nothing more...

Really? What is the difference between an Olympic Tournament and the Karate World Open organized by IKO (X) every 4 years? Do you really think the fighting in Olympics would be different? Or do you think that a high profile fighter, well known from Japan Open/America Cup/World Open would not show up for Olympics?
So, after all, WHAT is the difference?
-
@asconan True
-
@tcakarate True :D , it was allowed before without gloves , so people had bad injuries and they had to stop fighting...
@judopathoftruth THANK GOD Karate is NOT Olympic! If it was Olympic, it would completely turn into a SPORT rather than a martial art! All meaning would be lost!
I hope it will NEVER become olympic! Let's keep it true!

As a kid i did karate, and then muay thai, then till this day still train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu..but i absolutely LOVE kyokushin Karate. I think the art is very beautiful and i think with discipline, humbleness, and respect, any martial art you choose will strenghten you and pave a beautiful and honorable path for anybody.
