I wish I had known your dad was still around. I took lessons from him at the Bedford Conservatory in the late 50s. I was in Bedford in June and I would have liked to stop in and visit him. I was a member of the guitar band he had that won on the old Gene Carrol amateur show

My name is Frank Jakubecz. I was a student of his from 56 thru 60. Then I left to go to college. I ended up moving to West Michigan in 72. My dad recorded two of the Gene Carrol shows that we did with the guitar band. I dumped them off to CD. Think he might get a kick out of listening to them??? I could make an extra copy and mail it to him if he was interested.

Thanks so much for posting this clip. What an honor it was to have spent some time studying with your Dad. I just ran across an online reference in Billboard magazine to him playing in NY in 1946...!
