For nearly 20 years now, I've been rudely caught off guard with Seoul's bomb warning drills that take place each March from 2:00~2:10 pm of a designated day. This year I was walking near Jogye Temple in downtown Seoul when it went off, and I got to see how seriously people especially take/don't take things(including myself), as everyone is supposed to pull to the side of the road and seek shelter. The very busy Jonggak intersection never looked quieter.

140,000 Korth Korean howitzers are pointed at us from the kyeseong heights just 40 miles NW of the city, and the remnants of the cold war are reality here.

  • Someone told me these sirens were scary, but they don't sound so menacing :(

True, it's more of experiencing the "tone" of the siren when the city stands still, and not really expecting it to happen. After a few years I got used to the creepy sound I only had heard in movies, but being there on the street being caught by surprise near a siren tower in the early '90s freaked me out immensely.

1.Run around screaming Bobmers!Bombers! Were going to die!

    2. go to your neghbors telling them to get in their basement shelter

3.Scream at the top of your lungs" BE LIKE BURT! DUCK AND COVER!"

  • OH SHIT Pyramid Head HES GANNA KILL US ALL

  • I spent my first day in Seoul on this street! Its right near the sunshine guesthouse where we were staying.

  • @EmoKingxUlquiorra The reason why they're so scary isn't cause of the sound, but what it represents. The sound alone isn't scary at all, it's more annoying than anything, but knowing that that sound means there are going to be bombs/artillery dropping in that area, is the real scary experience.
